The Centre for Advanced Financial Research and Learning (CAFRAL) is an independent body set up by the Reserve Bank of India (R.B.I.) in the back drop of India’s evolving role in the global economy. The aim is to develop the institute into a world class facility for research and learning, in the banking and finance sector.
The proposed building, serves as CAFRAL’s learning arm; deeply engaged in conducting seminars, conferences and other learning programs. Furthermore, the institution serves as a platform for exchange of high level policy dialogues, between various stake holders, bringing together regulators, policy makers, bankers, academicians, researchers and practitioners. It also conducts advanced programs for enhancing professional capabilities of senior executives in the financial sector.
Some of the salient features of this design include, a central Multi Purpose Hall, with its surface as an open exhibit, depicting the evolution of RBI to visitor’s upon arrival. A meticulous articulation of the Atrium, within which it sits, facilitates cross ventilation through the westerly sea breeze via the swimming pool and a courtyard.
The design emphasizes a sustainable approach to planning, by harnessing wind and solar energy, through wind mill / photo voltaic panel as well as inverters.
