As part of the design team for the Institute of Indian Interior Designers (I.I.I.D), a 2,500 Sqm. Subway with 8 exit points was planned in order to ease the bottle neck near the Metro Cinema intersection in Mumbai.
This labyrinth of corridors with 8 gates, stone walls and state of the art lighting, met International Standards in the design of public infrastructure. It’s not just the contemporary interiors, but also the sensitivity towards the disabled and aged, that enabled the infrastructure to function as a barrier free environment.
A strict policy against the provision of hawking, retail as well as encroachment, facilitates a seamless flow of pedestrian traffic, especially during peak hours.
