A winner of the JK Architecture Award 1998, Trikalyam, a week end retreat is perched on the foothills of Matheran and Prabal Valley.
The house is set around a courtyard, with all covered spaces such as the Living, kitchen and 2 bed rooms imagined as 'Pavilions' dotting the 1 acre landscape.
Each room in the form of a square, with its roof a half cut pyramid, clubbed with windows made of MS frames and Bamboo infill’s, modulate light as well as provide adequate cross ventilation within all habitable spaces. Furthermore, stone walls along the periphery of these spaces retain earth mounds providing natural insulation, forming a distinctive landscape feature within the property.
A tree-top bed room, a 35' service tower, a wooden deck at the end of a 60' bridge surrounded by a lake, constitute key elements of the design.
