Perched on the Amarja Hills in Pawna, this weekend house is conceived as a cluster of cuboids.
With each space devised as a 'trapezoid' both in plan and section. These cuboids are placed like dice, negotiating contours, whilst also providing unique views of the surrounding lake and mountains.
Further, the spaces are articulated by deep inclined walls, clad with black basalt stone, with large openings on both ends enabling cross ventilation. A simple steel roof, composed of purlins and galvanized deck sheets, spans over these inclined walls, avoiding a cumbersome RCC roof construction. Clay tiles instead of false ceiling are preferred in order to provide the necessary insulation under the roof.
Three of the four cuboids extend out on to lawns, facilitated by the construction of a retaining wall to an optimum height. This allows for distant views of Amarja hills, especially during sunrise + sunsets.
