Diamond Jubilee School, Mumbai

In order to address the constraints offered by this linear / narrow site, the building is imagined as two separate blocks wherein the front block, abutting the main road houses a multipurpose hall, a sports complex as well as offices for the trust. While the central courtyard besides serving as the primary outdoor space provides sufficient buffer for the main school planned at the rear end of the site.

Floor plates for both these buildings are designed to step back reducing the visual mass, resulting in a series of pocket terraces at the upper levels.

Further given the open space constraints, the physical form of the building has been internalized through careful use of ramps, voids as well as configurations of the corridors on every floor, offering a varied experience as one traverse through the building.
